Knitting Machine

I have been up into the loft and managed to get my old knitting machine downstairs. After giving it a good clean I set it up in the back room. Before I start to use it though I will have to familiarize myself with all the instruction books etc, etc. I find I have forgotten everything (it's been up there for three years or more).

A new grandchild arrived so I think it's time to get knitting!

2011 Census

I am stumped with filling in this census form...me who is an avid form-filler, always filling in any and every form I can get my hands on. Being a foster carer I am not sure whether I should fill in one question that is asking me if I am employed. If I am considered employed am I self-employed, full time employed, freelance? Fostering is a full time job, but is it employment as such? Here I was getting on so well-absolutely whizzing along with the questions and would have finish within a short time until this question, or series of questions.
So I have saved what I have done until I can get some answers, it's not the end of the world is it?

1/2 Term Holiday

This little lady was born in August, my tenth grandchild. She is gorgeous.
Its holiday time again, what does one do with the youngsters during this time? Anyone have any ideas (they are teenagers-so very hard to please).
I took them to the Aquarium not long ago-after 30 mins they were bored. They liked the circus better though. Perhaps something more strenuous like rock climbing!!

My T-Mobile

There's news of a merger between T-Mobile and Orange.Does this mean that we(T-mobile customers)will be able to get Cinema Tickets soon? Watch this space.
My favorite music is Blues, my favorite artist is BB King-best songs are 'Riding with the King'and 'Thrill is Gone.
We dont hear much news about Iraq these days, probably getting our mind off it by constantly reporting what Jordan and Peter Andre are up to instead!Front page stuff too-can you believe it.

Not Guilty!

Recently I received an email, one of those 'send it on' things which was in sympathy with the USA troops in Iraq. I did send it on to some friends and family because I DO sympathise with those men and women who have to serve their duty in Iraq & Afghanistan. They dont want to be there-it is not in their power to refuse to go when they are called up. The majority of the armed forces in Iraq are decent human beings who genuinely want to help the people.
I do not support the USA/UK government policies on Iraq or Afghanistan. I do not believe they are doing their best to help these countries. I do know that they are only in it for the oil and power/control of these regions. The plight of the Iraqies/Afghanies means nothing to them. The lives of their soldiers are also just so much fodder in their war machine.
One of the people who received my email is an Iraqi. I received a reply from her accusing me of being a sympathiser of the occupation.Let's put the record straight here, I strongly believe that the occupation of both Iraq and Afghanistan is a crime against humanity. The occupying forces should be deployed home at the earliest opportunity. Aid should be given to these countries to help them recover economically.
I do not sympathise with the occupation, I sympathise with those who are being forced to serve in the occupation.
Do you agree or disagree with my stance on this?

A Good Cause

I want you to look carefully at this bust. See how well the artist has portrayed the subject. How each detail stands out. This was done by a young Iraqi girl who is living in Jordan as a refugee. She is struggling to make ends meet for herself and her young son. I believe she has talent, such talent should not be wasted. I would like to help this young woman to fulfill her dream to bring her artistic talent to the world. If anyone knows how she can go about getting help whether it be in the form of a scholarship, bursary, sponsorship or just some money to buy her materials and pay her rent etc please leave a comment on here. I am looking around the net, getting names of galleries and organisations that may be helpful, every little bit helps. What do you think?
